COREY HODES, O.D., RECOGNIZED AS YOUNG O.D. OF THE YEAR
Corey A. Hodes, O.D., a Los Angeles optometrist, was recently named Young Optometrist of the Year for 2006 by the California Optometric Association (COA) during its annual House of Delegates meeting in Sacramento, California, February 2-3, 2007. Dr. Hodes was honored for his significant contributions to organized optometry and his local society, the Los Angeles County Optometric Society (LACOS). "I am extremely honored to receive this award," Dr. Hodes says. "I look forward to serving my community and having a positive influence on my profession for many years to come."
In the short time since he has been in practice, Dr. Hodes has demonstrated his leadership abilities through his local society and community. Dr. Hodes has an impressive list of community contributions under his belt, including optometrist for ChildSight Los Angeles where Dr. Hodes performs vision screenings for children at underserved public schools in Hawthorne, Inglewood and Los Angeles School Districts. He has accompanied the Lions Club on volunteer eye care missions to Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Paraguay. Dr. Hodes is currently a member of the West Los Angeles Lions Club, Stephen S. Wise Temple Young Professional Group, and the "First Star" Organization. Active in LACOS, Dr. Hodes served as president from 2005-2006, as well as political action coordinator.
Dr. Hodes received his Doctorate of Optometry in 2001 from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA. He currently owns his own private practice, Hodes Vision Optometry, in West Los Angeles. In his spare time, Dr. Hodes enjoys basketball, traveling and training for triathlons.
The California Optometric Association was established in 1899 and is California's oldest organized community for optometrists. Representing more than 2,600 optometrists, COA is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of health care for the public through the advancement of optometry.
